Custom Technical Training

Prepackaged training is often irrelevant or redundant. That's why we work closely with clients to develop custom training...

On Site TrainingWorking With Clients
During our first contact with a new client, we listen.

We find out about the client's training requests, goals, descriptions of past maintenance problems--even anecdotes about what happened on the job recently to a vehicle or HVAC system.

Customizing the Program
We use this initial information to help the client select the most appropriate training services, then we modify the level of our involvement and our training strategies to fit the client.

All training is customized for the technicians' skills and experience, the type and manufacturer of the equipment, the age of the fleet, and the type of diagnostic and repair equipment located at each of the client's job sites.

Safety Compliance
Safety is an integral part of every course we offer. As a full service training company we offer OSHA compliance training programs including HAZMAT, lockout-tagout, and fork lift certification. In addition we offer preparation for NYC Certificates of Fitness and general fire and shop safety.

More About Phase 1:
Training Assessment
Initial training assessment can include:

  • Assessment Instrument:
Questionnaire to assess the technicians' current skills, knowledge and training needs.
  • Task Analysis:
Identifying tasks required to keep the fleet or facility operating.
  • Behavioral Objectives:
Determining exactly what a technician must be able to do to complete each task.
  • Flow Charts:
Showing the flow of substeps and decisions involved in each task.
    OR...
  • Summary Training Chart:
    Alternative, streamlined training assessment identifying:
    • Technicians' strengths in completing each maintenance task.
    • Challenges in completing each task.
    • Impact of each task on maintenance.

After we gather information for the training assessment, we review it with the client to ensure that the information and conclusions are sound. Top of Page

More About Phase 2:
Program Design
The design phase can include:

  • Program Flow Chart:
Course organization, including goals and skills to be developed by the program.
  • Course Curriculum:
A one-page outline for each course, summarizing the skills and knowledge to be taught on fleet or facilities maintenance, mobil hydraulics or welding , as adapted for the individual client and each job site.
  • Program Schedule:
Organizes the location, instructor and schedule for each course.

Throughout the planning process, we keep in touch with the client and review the program plans and course outlines to be sure they meet the client's needs.

Ultimately, we view the mechanics and technicians as the client. If we plan training that satisfies them and makes their lives easier, the client's overall maintenance process will improve. Top of Page

More About Phase 3:
Hands-On Instruction
We aim to inspire students! For each course, we assign expert instructors who can:

  • Prepare the classroom location and equipment and organize handouts for instruction.
  • Deliver lessons in a motivating, engaging style.
  • Organize hands-on activities to teach skills.
  • Cover everything in the course curriculum.
  • Ensure that attendees can demonstrate each new skill.

We follow up with course evaluations to be sure that the students are satisfied and the courses have achieved the program goals.
